Psychological Thriller with Buffalo State Connection to Air on Lifetime Network

Posted: May 6, 2016

“A Mother’s Revenge,” a psychological thriller with a Buffalo State connection, will air twice this Mother’s Day weekend (and once more on May 21) on the Lifetime Network.

This weekend’s showings will be on Saturday, May 7, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 8, at midnight. The Saturday, May 21, showing is at 6:00 p.m.

The suspense-filled, made-for-television movie tells the story of Jennifer (Jamie Luner) who flies to Buffalo to attend her daughter Katey’s (Audrey Whitby) graduation from Buffalo State College. After picking up the wrong suitcase at the airport, Jennifer receives a call from a man (Steven Brand) who is willing to kill to recover his baggage.

Directed by Fred Olen Ray, the movie was filmed at various locations across Western New York, including the Horace Mann Quad on the Buffalo State campus. Ray is a Hollywood-based director, but has now filmed three movies in Western New York.

“I’m very excited about the growing film industry in Buffalo,” said David Butler, ’84, who served as production designer on the movie. Butler has been involved in eight Western New York-based films in the past 13 months and is currently working on a period drama about the late Supreme Court Associate Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Kyle Mecca, ’13 (first-team production assistant), Dylan Hoffman, ’15 (production assistant), Hillary Kollar, ’15 (costumer), Alison Pieroni, ’14 (key costume), and Brandyn T. Williams, ’12 (stunt perfomer) also worked on the film.

Butler notes that fellow alum Rich Wall, ’94, director of operations for the Buffalo Niagara Film Office, has been instrumental in introducing filmmakers from around the world to Buffalo, which offers a wealth of creative talent, affordable production costs, and unique architectural settings.
