Alumni in Film Lecture and Panel: November 16

Posted: November 9, 2016

It’s lights, camera, action for a number of Buffalo State graduates. In recent years, moviemakers have increasingly used Buffalo, NY, as a go-to filming destination. Many Buffalo State alumni are directly involved with these big-screen productions.

The college will host a panel discussion on "How Buffalo State Alumni Are Bringing Hollywood to Buffalo," Wednesday, November 16, at 6:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium.

"The supportive environment at Buffalo State nurtured my untapped creativity and honed necessary technical skills,” said wardrobe designer Dana Calanan, '94, '12. “Together, these gave me the confidence I needed to pursue a career as a costume professional."

Panelists include Calanan; production designer David Butler, ’84; writer and director Kyle Mecca, ’13; actor and producer Brandyn T. Williams, ’11; and director of operations for the Buffalo Niagara Film Commission Rich Wall, ’94.

The event is free, but seating is limited. RSVP online by Tuesday, November 15.

This event is sponsored by the Alumni Association and the Burchfield Penney Art Center
