Update on Recruitment

Dear Buffalo State Community,

The search process for the next president of Buffalo State University has been underway with our search firm partner WittKieffer. The Search Committee met this week with our search team to receive an update about the progress of recruitment and next steps in the search.

We are pleased to report that market feedback has been positive as Buffalo State enjoys a strong reputation for its commitment to students and its role in the Buffalo community. There has been significant interest in this search, and WittKieffer is cultivating and vetting prospective candidates with a focus on leaders who have the right balance of experience, presence and vision to lead our university. WittKieffer will continue their work in the market to develop a compelling and diverse slate of candidates for the Search Committee to review.

I want to thank everyone in our community again for the input you provided – through the 12 listening sessions, the community survey and the presidential search email address. Your generous input ensures that the Committee understands your needs and hopes for the future and that we will forward a strong set of semifinalists for the University Council's consideration and, ultimately, for SUNY Chancellor John King's selection.

Our early candidates are expressing appreciation for the representational style of search we have adopted. To that end, we are working now to define the representative groups of individuals who will be invited to participate in the late stages of the search. We believe this format will provide the maximum benefit to Buffalo State and the broadest possible field of candidates.
