As we move forward with the presidential search, we are beginning to form the various groups that will participate in the representational campus interviews.
To identify representatives, we are taking three approaches:
First, faculty and staff who put themselves forward for consideration to serve on the search committee—recognized by their peers but not ultimately selected—will be invited to participate in the representational meetings.
Second, we will draw heavily from the Buffalo State Senate membership. I have always been impressed by the breadth of representation within the Senate. Its inclusion of faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduate students is distinctive among its peers. This body has already been elected by various campus constituencies and should form the foundation of the representational meetings.
Third, in order to ensure membership on these groups includes support staff who are not faculty or members of the professional staff caucus, we will open the process to nominations. Any support staff member (generally those represented by CSEA) who wishes to serve in these meetings can self-nominate. These nominations will be reviewed and some members added to the interviews. While the bulk of the representative groups will be filled in approaches 1 and 2 above, those selected through nominations will round out the campus meetings. These nominations should be sent to presidentialsearch@buffalostate.edu.
Individuals will be invited to join the representational meetings. If they accept the invitation, they will receive a nondisclosure agreement (NDA), which must be completed and returned before participating.
If you have questions, please refer to my earlier message about the representational search.
Once the representational groups are set, we will have a form online where you can submit suggested questions and comments that will be shared with the search committee and representative groups. While they will not be able to report back on the specific meetings or interviews, you will have informed representatives advocating on your behalf.
