Anthropology Major

An anthropology undergraduate degree from Buffalo State provides a broad-based approach to the understanding of human culture, past and present, and human biology. 

Offering a bachelor of arts in anthropology, the Anthropology Department hosts archaeological field schools at scenic locations in Western New York.

History Major

Buffalo State’s history program ensures both knowledge and an understanding of the foundations of the development of humankind.

History majors are prepared for careers in business or government, and for graduate study in history or law. Social studies education majors are prepared to teach social studies, including history, in both middle and high schools.

Philosophy Major

The study of philosophy complements many different disciplines. The bachelor's in philosophy is the only major (or minor) that will help you with any career path.

Political Science Major

Buffalo State's political science program is designed to help students build a strong foundation of skills that will prepare them for careers in law, government, and policy.

Political science students program pursue careers in the public and non-profit sectors as public policy analysts, community planners, or administrators.

Psychology Major

Students in Buffalo State’s psychology program learn the statistical methods necessary to understand and perform research in psychology. They also develop critical thinking skills to analyze and solve problems.

Buffalo State offers both a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in psychology. 

Sociology Major

Students who earn a bachelor of sociology degree at Buffalo State will understand the language and role of the discipline in contributing to our knowledge of the world; understand the role of theory in describing and explaining social phenomena; and understand the methods and procedures used to conduct sociological inquiry.
