Japanese stiltgrass, an early detection priority invasive species, was found in the Village of East Aurora and reported to WNY PRISM in 2017. In response, WNY PRISM partnered with the Village of East Aurora and Town of Aurora to start and education campaign to raise awareness of this species and the threat it poses. In 2018, WNY PRISM mailed over 2500 post cards to residents surrounding the known infestation and conducted site surveys looking for Japanese stiltgrass.
This presentation will provide background on Japanese stiltgrass, an update on outreach and survey efforts, information on best management practices, and include a discussion about next steps.
