Lecture: The Importance of the Negro Spiritual with Ysaÿe Barnwell

SUNY Geneseo graduate and internationally acclaimed musical artist Ysaÿe Barnwell will share her talents and her story with the Buffalo State community.

Barnwell, who performed with the all-female African American musical group Sweet Honey in the Rock for 34 years, will deliver two lectures/master classes: “The Importance of the Negro Spiritual” on Wednesday, November 28, at 2:00 p.m. and “The Global Perspective of African American Music” on Thursday, November 29, at 10:50 a.m. Both take place in the Louis P. Ciminelli Recital Hall and are open to the campus.
