Circle: Dance in the Round

2:00 p.m. 11:57 p.m. Event has no end time
2:00 p.m. | Savage Theater and Communication Building Flexible Theatre

Circle: Dance in the Round presents an exciting challenge for the choreographers and dancers in many ways. Since concert dance is traditionally presented on a proscenium stage with an audience front, an in-the-round presentation required that the choreography respond to the space differently. The Circle symbol meaning is far-reaching and profound and each choreographer discovered their own way of expressing the concept of Circle; the infinite nature of energy, the inclusivity of the universe, the dance circle as it reflects community, and the emphasis placed on the featured work within its contoured border. We invite you to personally explore its meaning and come full circle in your own awareness of its symbolic importance.
