Oswego established an early lead in the opening half and never looked back, as the Bengals trailed 36-26 at the midway point. The Bengals were never able to come closer then eight points in the second half, despite improving their shooting percentage to 52-percent in the second half from 28-percent in the opening half.
Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line and led the scoring for the Bengals with 22 points. Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/ Christian Central) put up 14 points and grabbed five boards, while teammate Ashley DeVaughn (Williamsville/Williamsville East) posted 10 points.
The Lakers had five different players score in the double digits, led by Sarah Lombard (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) who posted 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Tremblay (Albany Colonie) went 7-of-9 from the charity stripe, compiling 11 points and adding 11 rebounds.
The Bengals finish the regular season at 9-16 overall with a 6-10 mark in SUNYAC play. Oswego clinches first place in the SUNYAC with tonight’s victory. The Bengals will have a chance for revenge as they travel to Oswego to face the Lakers in the first round of playoffs this Tuesday.
