BUFFALO, NY—New Paltz (14-8/8-5) shot 83-percent in overtime to defeat host Buffalo State (6-17/3-11), 72-67, in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena.

Kristen Caban (Staten Island/St. Joseph Hill) paced New Paltz with 17 points and three steals. Chelsea Clarke (Ithaca/Lansing) added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Amber Sohns (Delhi/Delaware Acad.) had 10 points and six boards.

Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) led Buffalo State with 24 points and had seven rebounds and three assists. Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) had 10 points and four assists, and Ashley DeVaughn (Williamsville/Williamsville East) added six points and a team-best nine rebounds.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 14-6 lead eight minutes into the game, but New Paltz used the momentum of a 10-2 run of its own to carry a 28-22 advantage into the intermission. Buffalo State needed less than five minutes in the second half to erase the deficit. The Hawks regained the lead for the final six-plus minutes of regulation, however, until Parks hit a layup with 17 seconds remaining to even the score at 58-58 and force overtime. New Paltz never trailed in overtime, leading by as many as eight. The Hawks were 5 of 6 from the field in overtime and made just 4 of 9 from the free throw line.

Buffalo State will host Fredonia in its home finale on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
