From the President: Welcome to the spring semester at Buffalo State!

It’s a pleasure to have you here at SUNY’s largest comprehensive college where we are looking forward to an exciting semester ahead on our wonderful campus. As classes get under way, I encourage you to take a moment to read the message below from SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.

Best wishes for a successful, enjoyable, and productive semester. Three cheers for Buffalo State!

Aaron Podolefsky
Buffalo State President

From the Chancellor:

Students,

With the new year now in full swing and a new semester upon us, I wanted to take a moment on behalf of the entire SUNY system to officially welcome you to 2013.

You may not know it yet, but you are a member of the biggest family in New York State. With approximately 468,000 students and millions of alumni around the world, the State University of New York’s 64 campuses make up the largest and one of the most well-renowned systems of higher education in the country—and you’re an important part of it!

Of course, as a system we are constantly working to put big ideas into action for your future. We’re ensuring you can study in a field able to deliver on a career. We’re making college costs more transparent. We’re building a modern online learning system that works across the state and all over the world. And, we’re making it more seamless than ever to transfer between SUNY campuses.

We haven’t been at this alone. The past three years have been spent listening, planning, and engaging with your fellow students and your campus leadership on where to take SUNY next. The good news is, we are always listening to the great ideas and advice that come from our stakeholders.

As part of the SUNY family, you are also a part of Generation SUNY. Our social media presence is stronger than ever, and is the ideal forum for you to engage with each other and directly with your State University. Whether you’re into Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or LinkedIn, we’re waiting to hear from you. The Generation SUNY Blog is also a great place to catch up on the latest and greatest SUNY news, and to let us know what you think.

I have a good feeling that this year will be one of our best yet. Your academic profile is beyond impressive, and we see amazing things on the horizon for all of our students and college campuses. It is with great enthusiasm that I wish you a productive, engaging, and enjoyable spring semester.

Welcome to the family!

Nancy L. Zimpher
Chancellor, The State University of New York
