Television and Film Arts Film Forum: May 4

Posted: May 1, 2012

The public is invited to watch a collection of student-produced short films during the fifth annual Television and Film Arts (TFA) Film Forum, Friday, May 4, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Arts Center Auditorium.

Sixteen TFA students submitted films ranging from parodies to mysteries to the forum. To determine which films will be screened, Jeffrey Hirschberg, director of television and film arts, and Lou Rera, associate professor of communication, are judging the submissions based on overall technical and creative quality

“These young filmmakers each functioned as auteurs during the entire production process," said Rera. "They had to merge and balance the creative aspects of their stories with the technical demands of producing a professional-looking and sounding film, while directing their actors to deliver performances to bring these narratives to life. This is a tremendous opportunity for them to grow as professionals."

Last year, film student David Van Keuren won the Audience Award at the third annual SUNY-wide Film Festival.

The two-hour program will include a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers. Admission is free, however, donations are encouraged.
