SUNY Western New York Colleges and Universities Host Presentation by Chancellor Robert L. King

Posted: December 10, 2004
Buffalo State College, along with the University at Buffalo, and Erie, Jamestown and Niagara County community colleges, will host a breakfast meeting featuring the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor Robert L. King at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.

Chancellor King will speak to Western New York business, civic and education leaders about “The State University of New York: Higher Education To Be Proud Of.”

“By every objective measure, the State University of New York is moving to the front rank of public higher education in America,” said King. “SUNY attracts more sponsored research than ever before, our freshman class has stronger SAT scores, we have reached our $1 billion fundraising goal 18 months ahead of schedule and our campus presidents are doing a superb job managing their campuses.”

During the session, Chancellor King will discuss his belief that academic excellence in the New York State public university system is essential if the state is to have the highly educated leaders, workers and citizens needed to promote its social and economic well being. Further, he will outline the progress being made towards achieving that goal, including increased academic standards, elevated research and development funding and increased partnerships between the university and the private sector.

The State University of New York is the largest comprehensive university system in the United States, educating more than 413,000 students in 6,688 degree and certificate programs on 64 campuses.
