Buffalo State (15-3/4-2) split a SUNYAC doubleheader at Oneonta today, falling 7-2 in the opener, before rebounding with a 4-1 win in the nightcap.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first game, but Oneonta rallied for the 7-2 victory. Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) led the Bengals' offense, going 3 for 4, while Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) were each 2 for 3. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) suffered her first loss of the season in seven decisions, as she allowed nine hits and five earned runs.

In the late game, Buffalo State scored early again, taking a 4-0 lead in the opening inning, and made it hold up for the win. Sophomore Lauren Wright (Westfield/Westfield) earned the victory on the mound with a four-hitter. She has still not allowed an earned run in 26 innings pitched this season. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) had a triple and two RBIs for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will play at New Paltz tomorrow in a conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.
