FT. MYERS, Fla.—Buffalo State (8-2) split the final two games of its Florida trip, defeating U. of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2-1), 3-1, before falling to DePauw (11-0), 6-1, today at the Lee County Sports Complex.

Whitewater out-hit Buffalo State 7-5 in the first game, but the Bengals assembled a three-run third inning, providing enough offense for Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) to improve to 6-0 on the season with the 3-1 win. The Warhawks scored their lone run in the seventh inning. Fisher had four strikeouts. Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) was 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) was 1 for 3 with a double and run, Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) was also 1 for 3 with a run scored.

DePauw jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second game, scoring one run in the first, and added five more in the second after six-consecutive hits in a two-out rally. Buffalo State could not overcome the early deficit, eventually falling 6-1. Jolene Banach was 2 for 3 with a double. Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Mooney was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) took the loss, allowing eight hits and five earned runs, while striking out four.

Buffalo State will open its home schedule with a conference twin bill against SUNYIT on Friday.
