Posted: April 19, 2007
BUFFALO, NY—The University of Rochester (14-5) stifled Buffalo State’s (16-6) potent offense to record a road sweep, winning 7-3 and 2-0, in a non-conference doubleheader today at Bengal Field.

The Bengals rallied from a 3-0 deficit to even the score with a three-run fourth inning in the opener, but Rochester scored three more runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to claim the 7-3 win. The Yellowjackets out-hit Buffalo State, 10-9, and capitalized on three Bengal errors. Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/Frontier) was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) and Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) each went 2 for 4. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs and striking out six.

The Yellowjackets plated the only two runs of the nightcap in the first inning and limited Buffalo State to just five hits for the 2-0 win, despite committing four errors. Fisher was the only Bengal with multiple hits, again going 2 for 3. Jenna Schwartzmeyer (Williamsville/Williamsville South) was suffered the hard-luck loss, allowing eight hits and one earned run, while fanning 10.

Buffalo State will host Potsdam tomorrow in a SUNYAC doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
