Posted: April 4, 2005
Buffalo State's Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Melissa Balsavage (Depew/Depew) swept the SUNYAC softball weekly honors.

Sirianni was named the SUNYAC Player of the Week after leading the Bengals to a 5-1 week, going 8 for 20 (.400) at the plate. A senior health and wellness major, she scored seven runs and had two doubles, five RBIs and three stolen bases. The center fielder leads the Bengals with a .439 batting average and 13 RBIs.

Balsavage earned the SUNYAC's Pitcher of the Week honors. The senior secondary English education major, tossed a pair of complete game shutouts over D’Youville and SUNYIT, allowing just six hits and striking out six. During that stretch, she limited the opposition to a .133 batting average. She is off to a 4-0 start on the season and has not allowed an earned run in 21 innings.

Buffalo State is off to an 11-1 start. The Bengals are scheduled to host Brockport tomorrow and RIT on Wednesday.
