On February 5, superstar violinist Midori will perform a benefit concert in the new Recital Hall. A portion of the proceeds raised from this event will support music student scholarships and the music program. A $300 tax-deductible acknowledgement will be provided with each purchased ticket.

Update: August 1, 2012: Tickets for both concerts go on sale Tuesday, September 4. Tickets for the Falleta performance will be available at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall box office, (716) 878-3005. Tickets for the Midori benefit dinner and concert will be available from the Music Department, Rockwell Hall 203, (716) 878-6401.

The Recital Hall project began four years ago, and its opening has been eagerly anticipated.

"As the Music Department has grown in size, scope, and quality, so, too, has our need for additional appropriate performance facilities," said Bradley Fuster, associate professor and chair of music. "The space that was previously occupied by the Burchfield Penney Art Center provides a perfect location for an intimate space that will allow students and faculty unrestricted access to an excellent acoustical environment and will allow us to attract world-renowned performers like Midori.”

The Faculty and Friends series begins with the student Percussion Trio and Dance Ensemble on September 26 and wraps up with Diaspora and the West African Drumming Ensemble performance on April 23. In between, audiences will find an eclectic mix of 20 performances. Some artists will perform in the Recital Hall and others in the larger Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.
