Posted: December 2, 2005
PLATTSBURGH, NY--Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made 26 saves as Buffalo State (5-7/3-3) earned its first-ever victory over Plattsburgh (5-4/4-2), 2-1, in a SUNYAC contest tonight at Stafford Arena.

Plattsburgh, currently ranked 10th in the nation, was previously 21-0-2 against the Bengals.

Jonathan Pietrangelo (Pt. Robinson, ON/St. Michael) gave the Bengals the lead on the power play with the lone goal of the opening period, 12:33 into the game. Plattsburgh answered with a power play goal of its own early in the second period. Paul Gagnon (Troy, MI/Troy Athens) put the Bengals back in front with his second of the year with 1:57 remaining in the second period.

Sheehan stopped all eight Cardinals shots in the third period to preserve the upset victory. Plattsburgh outshot the Bengals 27-22.

Buffalo State will remain in "North Country" tomorrow for another SUNYAC face-off at 7 p.m. in Potsdam.
