MORRISVILLE, NY—Greg Meyer (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 150 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Buffalo State (1-0) in a rout over host Morrisville (0-1), 37-14, today at Drake Field.

Meyer, a junior receiver, opened the scoring on the second play from scrimmage with a 70-yard reception from Dan Aquilio (Depew/Depew). Meyer and Aquilio connected for two more scoring strikes, covering 12 and 40 yards, and Meyer found the end zone once more, on a 26-yard run on an end around play. He finished the game with four catches for 124 yards.

Dan Lopez (Lancaster/St. Mary’s) scored the Bengals other touchdown on a four-yard run. The senior tailback finished with 135 yards on 22 carries. Aquilio was 17 of 23 for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Dan McEntire (Hilton/Hilton) caught six passes for 65 yards. Sophomore linebacker Jermaine Rose (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) led the Bengals’ defense that only allowed 210 total yards of offense, with 12 tackles. Darryl Davis (Lancaster/Lancaster) added 10 tackles and an interception, and Tom LaPann (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) had seven stops, including a sack.

Buffalo State had 432 yards of total offense and had six different players with receptions.

Morrisville quarterbacks Billy Poling was 11 of 16 for 102 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and Darnell Murphy was 3 of 12 for just 40 yards. Receiver Eddie Hull had six catches for 73 yards and a score, and Ahmad Burks added a 2-yard touchdown run. Bryant Parker was the leading tackler for the Mustangs with 11.

After the Meyer-Aquilio connection gave the Bengals the early lead, Buffalo State extended its advantage to 30-0 by halftime with three second-quarter touchdowns and an Adam Hauser (Hamburg/Frontier) 32-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Morrisville scored on an eight-play, 64-yard drive to open the second half, but Aquilio found Meyer with a 40-yard scoring strike midway through the third period to reclaim the 30-point advantage. Morrisville added the final score late in the third quarter.
