The exhibition features over 100 artists, working in an expansive range of media, all connected under a common theme. Artists on view at the Burchfield Penney include Michael Beitz, Joe Bochynski, Karen Brummund, Buffalo Sound Painting Ensemble, Kyle Butler, Carl Lee, Dennis Maher, Julian Montague, Jean-Michel Reed, and Jamie O'Neil.

Public reception, Sunday, September 26, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.; remains on view through January 9, 2011.

Charles E. Burchfield: Think About the Medium
Charles Burchfield used watercolor to realize his vision in unique ways, but his techniques were far from simple. Think About the Medium examines Burchfield's distinctive use of color and his innovative method of expanding paper working surfaces to create larger compositions.

Charles E. Burchfield: Haunted Twilight
A dilapidated clapboard house located in Teegarden, Ohio, just four miles southeast of Charles Burchfield's childhood home, captured the artist's imagination as a boy. The dwelling is immortalized in Haunted Twilight (1954–62), on view in the Charles E. Burchfield Rotunda, along with a collection of related drawings, studies, and alternate versions of the painting.

High School Hairstyles Documented and Defined: Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and Julian Montague
Part of the M&T Bank Community Gallery Series, this exhibition chronicles the collaboration between Beyond/In 2010 artist Julian Montague and a group from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, cataloging the various hairstyles of high school students.
