Buffalo State Welcomes World Junior Teams to Campus

Posted: December 23, 2010
The Buffalo State Ice Arena is serving as a practice site for several countries participating in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Hockey Championships, played December 26–January 5 in Western New York.

“It is a great honor for us to open our doors to the best junior hockey players in the world,” said Ice Arena manager Jim Fowler.  “We are very proud of our arena and look forward to the opportunity to showcase our facility to these elite players.”

All practices are closed to the public.

Opened in 1991, the Ice Arena is the home rink for Buffalo State's men's and women's varsity hockey programs, as well as Canisius College's men's hockey team. It also serves as a practice facility for the Buffalo Sabres, has hosted the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships, the Buffalo Skating Club, and several youth and senior hockey leagues.

The arena provides open skating, skate-n-shoot, and Learn-to-Skate programs, and skate rental to students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public. View the schedules.
