Buffalo State Professors Honored by SUNY Chancellor

Posted: December 20, 2002
Buffalo State College Professors Ann Colley and William F. Wieczorek were honored by State University of New York Chancellor Robert L. King on December 16, 2002. They were among 42 of New York's most important and creative scholars recognized at the second Chancellor's Recognition Dinner Honoring Research and Scholarship in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Ann Colley, professor of English, has received numerous grants and awards, including two American Fulbright senior fellowships. She has written extensively on 19th century literature and the relationship between the writing and images of that period. Other areas of interest include nostalgia and the nature of metaphor. She has been invited for a private tour of the Robert Louis Stevenson Cottage in Saranac Lake next month, where the noted author stayed in an effort to obtain relief from chronic lung disease.

William Wieczorek, director of Buffalo State's Center for Health and Social Research, is an international expert on drug- and alcohol-related social problems. His research extends to China, which is undergoing tremendous economic and cultural changes. He helped to create the Dalian Medical University-Buffalo State College Institute of Behavioral Medicine.
