Buffalo State has been picked to finish third in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) 2005 Softball Coaches Poll.

Buffalo State finished second in the regular season last year with a conference record of 16-4. The Bengals were eliminated from the SUNYAC playoffs with a pair of extra inning losses, including a 1-0 decision in 16 innings against eventual-champion Oneonta.
