Buffalo State College to Raise U.N. Flag in Celebration of United Nations Week

Buffalo State College will raise the United Nations flag Monday, Oct. 20, at 12:15 p.m. in the quad outside Butler library. Participants in the celebration of United Nations Week will include Buffalo State College President Muriel Howard, as well as college faculty, staff and administrators and members of the University Police Department.

The United Nations was established in 1945 at the end of World War II to help stabilize international relations and give peace a more secure foundation. United Nations Week celebrates the organization and its achievements.

Buffalo State College will continue its commemoration with a “Peace Conference for the Study of Understanding Community and Peace” on Friday, Oct. 24 in Rockwell Hall. The conference, entitled “The Relationship Between Peace Initiatives and Community Development” will feature faculty, community and student speakers, as well as a representative from the United Nations, Stadler Trengove, legal officer, office of legal counsel, office of legal affairs,
