Posted: December 30, 2004
Jacey Brooks’ (Machias/Franklinville) career-high 31 points led Buffalo State to an 82-73 come-from-behind victory over Centre (KY) today in the consolation game of the Wittenberg Kiwanas Holiday Classic in Springfield, Ohio.

Centre opened the game on an 8-0 run and led by as many as nine points midway through the opening half. Buffalo State rallied to even the score at 34-34 at the intermission. The Bengals never trailed in the final 20 minutes, building their lead to as many as 12, before claiming the nine-point victory.

Brooks’ 31 points matched the third highest single-game total in Buffalo State history. She shot 9-of-16 from the field and hit 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. Her previous career-best was 22 points. Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) and Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) each added 12 points for the Bengals. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) had eight points and eight rebounds.

Buffalo State snapped a five game losing-skid to improve to 3-5 on the season. The Bengals will return to action on January 7 at the Moravian Winter Classic in Bethlehem, Pa.
