After falling behind 6-0 to open the game, Buffalo State used a 16-1 first half run to take a 25-20 lead into the intermission. The Bengals extended their lead to as many as nine, and led by eight with 7:47 remaining. Brockport mounted a 14-3 run and took the lead for good with 4:11 remaining when Marcella broke a 46-46 tie with a 3-pointer. From there, Brockport pulled away for the victory. The Golden Eagles outrebounded Buffalo State 44-32. Brockport shot just 32-percent, compared to 40-percent shooting by the Bengals.
Marcella finished 5-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for 14 points and added 11 rebounds and four assists. Ashley Broadhurst (Sauquoit/Utica Notre Dame) also had 14 points, despite shooting 2-of-13 from the field. Lauren Evans (Auburn/Auburn) added 12 points for the Golden Eagles.
Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) led the Bengals with a career-high 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, and also had nine rebounds. Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) added 17 points and three steals. Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) scored nine points.
Buffalo State will travel to Cortland on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
