Art Conservation Student Serves on National Committee

Megan Salazar-Walsh is a first-year student in Buffalo State’s master’s program in art conservation. This year, she was named co-outreach coordinator for the Emerging Conservation Professionals Network, a committee formed by American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC). AIC is the national membership organization of conservation professionals.

Salazar-Walsh was born and grew up in southern Spain. In 2007, she received a B.A. in Art History from Whitman College. She interned with several conservators in private practice in Seattle, Washington, as well as in Seville, Spain. She also volunteered at the Seattle Art Museum, working with the conservation department on objects, paintings, and outdoor sculpture. She also interned at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont before being accepted to Buffalo State’s highly competitive art conservation program, which admits only ten students a year to the three-year program.
