Exhibition: Fly Fishing: A Celebration of the Stream

12:00 a.m. 12:00 a.m. End Time
All day | Burchfield Penney Art Center

Fly Fishing: A Celebration of the Stream, is an exhibition developed in collaboration with the Western New York chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU), an organization whose mission is “To conserve, protect and restore North America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.” The exhibition features landscape paintings by three Western New York artists and vintage fly fishing equipment from the collections of local anglers.

The exhibition also highlights Trout Unlimited programs on the local and national level. Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is an environmental education program in which students in grades k-12 raise tout from eggs later releasing them into a state-approved stream near the school or within a nearby watershed. TU of Western New York also does stream restoration projects. Annually the chapter plants about 500 trees along streams in our region. The chapter also participates in Project Healing Waters; a program dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.
